It is recommended that before
you begin you should have your
copy of the Windows '95 disks or
CD-ROM at hand as you may be
asked for it. If your machine is
not a stand-alone and is
connected to other machines
around it, on a network, you
should seek advice from your
systems administrator before
continuing.

The
only components necessary to
connect to datainfosys are;
-
Client for Microsoft
Networks (interchangeable
with Microsoft Family Logon)
-
Dial-Up Adapter
-
TCP/IP
If you have any other components
installed, they may interfere
with your connection. If you
have a network card installed on
your machine, you should not
remove the components associated
with it from this window. If you
are in doubt, do not remove the
component.
If
you are missing any components,
follow these steps:

All three components are
manufactured by Microsoft, so in
the Select Network
Client/Adapter/Protocol window,
select Microsoft from the left
hand side, and the component you
require from the right hand
side. Then click OK.

Once you have the necessary
components listed, highlight
TCP/IP and select Properties

From the tabs at the top, make
sure that:
IP Address is set to Obtain

The computer may build a driver
information database, copy some
files, or request your Windows
95 CD. When copying files you
may see a message titled Version
Conflict, saying that the file
you are copying is older than
the file already in your system,
to which you should click Yes to
keep the current version of the
file. When the process is
complete you will see a message
titled System Settings Changed,
prompting you to Restart the
machine – to which you should
click Yes. Once your machine has
rebooted, you are ready to
connect.
Creating an datainfosys icon on
the Desktop
Once all the settings are
complete, the task of dialing
into datainfosys can be
automated by creating an
datainfosys icon on your
Desktop. We recommend using the
shortcut instead of allowing
your browsing software to dial
for you, as you will tend to
make a more reliable connection.
Double click the My Computer
Icon

Double click the Dial-Up
Networking icon

Highlight the datainfosys icon,
and click the RIGHT mouse button
once to display a menu

Select Create Shortcut, and the
following message will appear

"Windows cannot create a
shortcut here. Do you want the
shortcut to be placed on
the desktop instead?"
Click Yes to this prompt
Simply double click the icon on
your desktop to launch the
dialer. Enter your details and
click Connect to connect.
